ET Value Rims Explained: The Perfect Fitment Guide | Vibez
The ET value, also known as offset, is the distance in millimeters between the mounting surface on your hub and the exact center of the rim. This value determines how your rims sit in the wheel arch; a low ET value makes the rim protrude further outwards for that aggressive "Vibez" stance, while a high value pushes the rim deeper inwards. At Vibez, we calculate this down to the millimeter to create the perfect "flush" look without the tires rubbing against your fenders or suspension. It's the difference between a standard car and a build with a unique status.
THE FITMENT BIBLE: Everything You Need to Know About ET Value
You've picked out some sick rims at Vibez, the width is perfect, but then comes the moment of truth: the installation. If you don't understand the ET value (Einpresstiefe or offset), your build can be ruined in an instant. At Vibez, it's all about the perfect "flush" look – where the rim sits exactly level with your wheel arch.
What exactly is this ET value?
The ET value, also called offset, determines how deep your rim sits in the wheel arch or how far it protrudes outwards. It's the distance in millimeters between the center of the rim and the mounting surface on your hub.
- Low ET value (e.g., ET 25): The rim protrudes further outwards. This gives that wide, aggressive look we love at Vibez.
- High ET value (e.g., ET 40): The rim sits deeper into the wheel arch. You often see this on standard factory cars, but it can cause your rim to hit your brake calipers or shock absorbers if you go too high.
- ET 0: The mounting point is exactly in the middle of the rim.
Why this is crucial for your build
At Vibez, we don't go for "standard." If you install a wider set, you need to play with the ET value to prevent the inside of your rim from damaging your suspension. But be careful: if you go too low, your tire will slam against your fender with every speed bump.
The Vibez approach for perfect fitment
We calculate this down to the millimeter. Sometimes we use spacers to correct a high ET value, but preferably, we order the rim directly with the correct offset for your specific car.
